deer

Instead of writing this again I am just going to copy
and paste the email I sent to our New Moon Circle Group today.
I came inside and wrote this email as soon as it happened.

Dear Josie and All,
I just got my tea and journal to go out
by the waterfall and write.
As I was going out the door,
I said to Steve have you seen that
big buck that's been hanging around?
When I walked out the door I heard
a gunshot and some of the deer ran
into the woods.
Then I heard another gunshot.
And then I saw the big buck limping
across the field toward our house.
Then it collapsed.
I ran back inside and told Steve
that someone had shot the buck.
Then I went out in my driveway
and yelled WHO DID THAT?!
My neighbor came walking up and said he did.
I said WHY?
He said to eat.
I got hysterical.
I went up to the buck and cried
and cried and told him I was so sorry.
The buck was still alive.
Please surround him with your love and light.
This is not acceptable.
More later.
Love, Zoe

Deer Song

O the gentle Deer
brings her gift of love
and she melts all
our fears away
The peace and calm
that she brings to us
goes deep in our hearts
to stay
And she tells us we
must be like her
Gentle and warm and kind
And love all our fellows
And love ourselves
And leave all our fears
behind
O the gentle Deer
brings her gift of love
and she melts all
our fears away
The peace and calm
that she brings to us
goes deep in our
hearts to stay
Goes deep in our
hearts to stay

dear zoe,

i read this first at moon circle, where i recently joined at your invitation, and wanted to respond there but i detest yahoo for turning in voices of decsent to the hands of the fascist government that china is. because of yahoo's deed, innocent people will spend 10 years of their lives in jail, just for speaking, writing, out against injustice…and someone was praising yahoo in the circle. if they only knew, i thought. i just could not go there. i feel much more at home here at zaadz.

thank you for going to the buck and being with it as it died in pain. that took a lot of heart and guts. you are a courageous woman. thank you so much.

the hunter said he had to eat…makes me wonder why the consumption of eating other animals is any less unacceptable to so many who would be mortified by your experience. animals die in agonizing terror and pain in slaughter houses every day, but we just dont see it. and the buck was far more fortunate than the factory farmed animals for he had a good life, free and in the open. the others live and die tortured lives–then people consume the chemicals and adreneline from their bodies. chicken has such high amounts of arsenic in it, for just one example…

meanwhile, the earth is far less sustainable because of the demand for human consumption of animals. the meat eating habit of humans actually causes starvation! I have an explanation of this on my recent blog entry.

lastly, i do not understand how people can work for peace and still eat meat, this is such a disconnect. what right have we to take another's life? i am so into trans-species psychology and will write more about it soon.

thanks for hearing me out, and again, i am grateful for your presence for that buck and in this world!

Dear Zoe, a great tear welled up in my eye as I read about the lovely buck that had to die by the hand of your meat-eating neighbor. His flesh and his life became a commodity. Thank you for spending time with him as his spirit left. Dear Zoe, please know that perhaps his spirit chose to leave while you were there. You made a huge difference and you are wonderful. Please keep on writing. Love, Harmony
