Happy Birthday Faith

Faith_s_birthday_032

Faith is 29 years old today.
I went over to their house to give her her
birthday present and she was putting up
Halloween decorations.
This is Oona wearing her princess costume
and waving her magic wand at all the skeletons.

hair

Posted on Oct 3rd, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
I am writing my blog on the laptop tonight.
The desktop has a few little things that need fixing.
Faith trimmed my hair for me today.
It's been YEARS since I've had my hair cut professionally.
Faith does a great job!
She likes the white streaks in my hair.
I like her purple, pink, blue, green and orange hair.

saint francis day

Faith and Oona and I had a picnic by the river today.
As soon as we finished eating
Oona stripped off her shoes and socks
and then her jacket and
then her dress and
then her underwear and
into the water she went.
Total JOY!
I got the cutest pictures of her.
But instead of posting Oona in her birthday suit
here on my blog I am putting this photo of
the Backbone Event Center where
Steve and I met in 1996.
It's right there by the river
where we had our picnic.
If you look through the window just to
the left of the door, that is where I was
sitting when I first laid eyes on Steve.

orange crocs

Posted on Oct 5th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
I got Steve a Halloween present today.
A pair of orange crocs from Goodwill.
Maybe you will see them in the next singalong photo.
We are planning to go hiking in RMNP tomorrow
even though it's supposed to rain.
It's been a month since we were up there
and it feels like forever.
I think the aspen trees are past their
peak goldenness but it will still be
beautiful as always.

wild turkeys

Steve and I left early this morning
had breakfast at the Egg and I
(no eggs in my breakfast)
then hiked up at Hollowell Park.
Going through the narrows we saw
bighorn sheep right by the road.
Then on the way to Glen Haven these
wild turkeys were walking along the road.
And on the hike we saw a snake.
The aspen trees were beautiful!
I will post a beautiful photo of them
on my blog tomorrow.
We just changed the time of the singalongs
and I sent an email to everyone on my email list
even if they live in Timbuktu.
Well you never know who might want to drop
in sometime and sing.

We had a happy singalong today and then
we forgot to take the picture!
But I had promised  on my blog last night
that today I would post my photo of the aspen.
So see how things work out?
Everything always works out perfectly.
Those who develop the ability to always
see the perfect flowing of life are
happier flowers.

Otis the piano player

Posted on Oct 8th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
Tonight I was over visiting the McDonalds and Otis
played all his piano songs for me.
I gave him one of my sacred animal songs songbooks
and he is going to learn one song each week
to play on the keyboard at the singalong.
He picked Snake Song for the one to
learn this week.
I showed him how to play the chords
and he got that down in no time.
He's so smart!
And so talented!
I LOVE helping him
with his piano songs and
listening to him practice.

give and take

Posted on Oct 9th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
I bought a few things at Goodwill yesterday.
And today I gave a few things to Goodwill.
I am still holding true to my promise to myself
that everytime I buy something or someone gives
me something, I will give away something similar
that I already have in the house.
It's working out great.
And it makes me think before buying something
because If for instance I am considering buying
a new dress, then I think about what dress I have
in my closet that I could give away.
If I can't think of one I want to give away then I
don't buy the dress.
This makes shopping doubly fun because first
you have the pleasure of buying something new
and then you have the fun of searching through
the house to see what you can give away.

happy new moon

Posted on Oct 10th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann

The new moon is at 11:01 tonight.
Tomorrow I will write my abundance check.
It's working for me.
I feel rich.
Here's the intention I came up with for our intenders circle.

I intend that I am radiantly healthy, happy, beautiful and rich
and that I always see others in their highest light...
radiantly healthy, happy, beautiful and rich.
For the highest good.
So be it and so it is.

All 144 paintings are now available in stickers
in my Etsy store now.

However, you have to have the patience of ANT

to unstick them from the backings!

sandhill cranes

Posted on Oct 11th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann

Wow, breathe, breathe, breathe.
Thousands of sandhill cranes just flew over our house
a little over an hour ago.
I heard a strange bird sound about 6:30 so I went out
on the deck and there were about 30 sandhill cranes flying
in a V shape right over our deck.
And making the coolest sound.
I wondered if they were going to land in the lake so I jumped
in the car and drove down there.
While I was standing there by the lake at dusk  hundreds
and then thousands of them flew right above me.
They didn't land in the lake, they just flew over the lake.
And the strangest thing is that just today my new friend
on myspace, Melanie,  posted  one of her
beautiful sandhill crane photos on my page.
http://www.myspace.com/sacredanimalsongs
Wow, what an awesome synchronicity!

carter lake wildlife sightings

Posted on Oct 12th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann

I just started a new yahoo group for the people who live
near Carter Lake so we can talk about our wildlife sightings.
Tomorrow I will call some of the neighbors and invite them
to join, since I don't know anyone's email address.
This will be fun!
The sandhill cranes inspired me.
It will be a great way to make new friends in the
neighborhood and even find some musicians who will
want to participate in the singalongs.

synchronicities

Posted on Oct 13th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann

Steve and I have been having some amazing synchronicities lately and so we are going
to start putting them in a book and call it our synchronicity book.
The synchronicity we had today was pretty cool.
We were taking a load to the dump today and we
went the back way by Horsetooth Reservoir.
We saw a garage sale sign near Horsetooth on the way
and we decided to go to it so we followed the signs all
through this subdivision and all the way to the top of the hill.
I was wondering if my friend Keith lived anywhere around
there because I knew he had moved somewhere near Horsetooth.
We bought a few things at the garage sale and as we were
walking back to the truck, there was Keith headed out to take
his dog for a walk!
He lives right next door to the people who were
having the garage sale.
It was wonderful to see him again.
I just love all these magic synchronicities that are happening!
The rain was nice today too.

Craneflower
We had a new singer join us today.
My neighbor Jeanne from across the way.
So it was Steve, me, Wendy, Connor, Ayden and Jeanne
and we sang Dragonfly through Praying Mantis.
A great time!
Here's yet another synchronicity.
When I saw Keith yesterday I told him lots
of weird things had been happening lately
and I told him about the sandhill cranes.
I just got this email from him tonight.

Hi Zoe . . .   Don't know if you were able to hear em . . . but right after you left yesterday . . . a flock of Sand Hill Cranes flew by . . . I yelled to you guys but you were out of distance . . . I've never heard them (on the Front Range) here before ...   K

(Thank you Melanie for your beautiful sandhill crane photo)

something

Posted on Oct 15th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann

I don't really feel like writing anything tonight.
So I'm not going to.
Okay, I'll write just a little something.
Well, I can't really think of even a little something to say.
Nothing inspirational, nothing poetic, nothing beautiful.
But writing anything at all is writing something.
So there I have written something.
I have simply shared myself in the moment.
Thank you for being who you are in the moment.

I made brownies for Steve today.
These were better than the first batch I made
a couple of weeks ago.
Vegan brownies with walnuts and dates
and flax seeds.
Yummy.
Josie you can have one when you
come over tomorrow afternoon.

labyrinth

Posted on Oct 17th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann

Josie came over this afternoon and we had a nice visit.

We talked about making a labyrinth here, maybe
down by where the pond will eventually be.

I've never walked a labyrinth before but it sounds

cool and I would like to have one on the property.

eyes closed

Posted on Oct 18th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
I think that I have pretty much accomplished my
most recent goal of memorizing all my
144 Sacred Animal Songs on the piano.
Now, everyday I  sing one set of 16 songs
and play guitar eyes closed and then I
play the same set on the piano eyes closed.
I just love being able to play them all
from memory and with my eyes closed.
It's so relaxing.

Singalong23_002

The O's spent the night with us last night.
When I walked out on the deck this morning
around 6:30 I saw the very first snowflake.
The flakes got bigger and bigger and fell
faster and faster and soon everything was white.
Our first snow...it was beautiful!
We had a wonderful singalong with Steve,
me, Faith, Otis, Oona, and Dusty.
We sang Stellers Jay through Marlin.
Faith didn't have a voice today
so she played piano and although
we missed her singing, the piano
playing was awesome!
Otis played chords on the
synthesizer on Shark Song.
We forgot to take the picture
so after everyone left I took a
picture of the snowman Steve and
the O's made before the sun came
out and melted all the snow.
Those are some interesting
purplish-blue lights
in the photo.

many rivers

Posted on Oct 22nd, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
When I first moved to Colorado in 1970 we
had a rock band called Cedar Creek.
In 1989 we had a band called Many Rivers.
And now here in 2007 we have a
band called Sacred Animal Songs.
Not really a band.
But you know,
musicians and singers
doing music together.
A singalong band.
Cool.

Faith and the O's and I went to Castlerock today
to get their new devon rex kitty, Mr. Grimsby.
He is black and was born on Oona's birthday, July 31.
He's too cute for words!
I will post a photo as soon as I have one.

brown creeper

It's always exciting to me to see a new bird.
This one landed on the waterfall tree when I was
sitting out there at sunset (moonrise) last night.
The brown creeper is cool because he
walks up the tree, spiraling around.
And then he flies to the base of
another tree and walks up that
one spiraling around.
Josie, that is a good
suggestion you made.....
he can teach us how to
make the labyrinth since
he is an expert at spirals.

walk around the lake

Posted on Oct 28th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
Steve and I were the only ones
at the singalong today but that
was okay with us.
It was a GORGEOUS day so as soon
as we sang Barn Swallow through
Firefly we went for a walk
around the lake.
It took a little over 3 hours to walk
completely around the lake.
When the lake is full it takes us 4 hours
but it is very empty now....the smallest
we have ever seen it.
We had a great time!

no idea

Posted on Oct 29th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
Sometimes when I come here to write in my blog
I know what I'm going to say before I get here.
Other times I have no idea what I'm going to say.
Tonight is one of those no idea times.
I was hoping I might see a mountain lion on
my drive home tonight so I could write about that.
Or a fox, or a raccoon, or a skunk.
But I didn't see anything.
Not even a deer or a rabbit.
But I am thankful simply
for beingness.
My beingness and
your beingness.
In this particular circumstance I
am a writer and you are a reader.
Pretty cool, huh?
Love, Zoe

grateful

Posted on Oct 30th, 2007 by Zoe Ann : Turtlesong Zoe Ann
When I got home tonight about 7:30 we had no
phone connection and no internet connection.
So about 8:30 I drove down to the marina to
call Steve at work from the payphone.
But the payphone wasn't there anymore.
So I drove on down to the Windjammer and used their phone.
When I got back home everything was working again.
For this I am very grateful.

Happy Birthday to my sister Linda.
For my sister Linda I am very grateful.

One of my friends asked me how I stay so happy.
Well, I said, it's because I drink green tea all day long.
And besides that, whenever I start to feel unhappy
then I just start thinking of things that I am
grateful for and that lifts me right up.

I am grateful for happy thoughts.

I am grateful that I can think happy thoughts about
my loved ones and know that that helps them
somehow to find their own happy thoughts.

There is always so much to
be grateful for.
